Meet the Coaches

Head Coach Cameron Jones began swimming competitivelty for the Martinsville YMCA Marlins at the age of 5. He swam on the YMCA Marlins swim team for 14 years, USA Club team for 8 years, 4 years of swim throughout high school and finished his swimming career at Old Dominion University where he received his B.S. degree in Exercise Science and Biology.

Coach Cam swam for Martinsville High School qualifying for the VHSL States all four years and finishing in the top 5 in the 100-yard backstroke, top 5 in the 100-yard freestyle, and top 3 in the 50-yard freestyle at the state finals. He became team captain of Martinsville HIgh School's swim team during his Junior and Senior season.

As an Age Group swimmer, Camerons accolades include qualifying for Age Group Champs, Regional Championships, Easter Zone SC Age Group Championships, Junior Nationals and YMCA Nationals Swimming Championship.

Coach Austin brings with him a wealth of experience, passion for swimming, and a deep commitment to nurturing athletes' growth. Not only does Austin have an impressive track record and a genuine love for the sport, he's also a former Marlins swimmer and my teammate which makes him a fantastic addition for our team. I am confident that his knowledge, expertise, and coaching style will greatly benefit each and every Marlin's swimmer.

Volunteer

Many aspects of swim teams and meets are run by parent volunteers. There are numberous jobs to be fulfilled at meets and throughout the year. Volunteering is a great way to stay busy between your child's events. It also gets parents involved in the achievements of all team members and builds relationships with other parents in the swimming community. In all the different areas where volunteers are needed, there will be a volunteer commitee head. This is the person to whom volunteers will report.

As a team that hosts swim meets, we need to increase the number of officials we have. Please consider volunteering to becoe a USA Swimming officia and/or an administration referee, a meet director or a computer operator.
