Goals
The center’s purpose is to always promote the well-being of the child, to give them the love and understanding they need, all while providing students with the skills that they need to be prepared to enter kindergarten. The overall goal of the program is to provide a developmentally appropriate educational experience for students in a nurturing environment.
Educational Development/Curriculum
The primary objective of the program is to nurture the child’s curiosity and to help them develop a love for learning. The basic concepts of colors, shapes, numbers and letters, holidays, seasonal changes, community influences, and the five senses are presented. Kindergarten readiness is a large component of the program; students are introduced to the basic concepts of language, mathematics, and science. Early literacy skills such as letter recognition and sounds, writing letters, rhyming, and opposite words are presented. Activities which include the use of numbers such as weighing and measuring, giving one’s birth date, phone number and address, counting and distinguishing likenesses and differences in objects, shapes, and words are also presented. The YMCA Early Learning Center uses the Learn Everyday Curriculum.

The YMCA membership corresponds with the child or family in the program. For example, a preschooler can get a Youth Membership for only $22 a month. The Youth Membership is a monthly fee that offers a discount on programs like swim lessons, child care and more.
