General League Guidelines
1. This league will have a short season but still be a fun league to give young girls an opportunity to grow in the sport as well as give the younger girls an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of volleyball. Please keep in mind this league is to introduce the game for the elementary level and build on skills for those who are still learning at the middle school level. This league is not for those who play on a competitive travel or club volleyball team.
2. Practices/games will be played on Thursday nights at the Martinsville YMCA during the times of 5:00-9:00 p.m. The net for the middle school age group will be set to the official height. The net for the younger age group will be slightly lower.
3. We will not have referees for this league (as it is mentioned above it will be more of a fun league). Team coaches/volunteers will work together to keep score of the games.
4. Due to small areas allowed for seating, spectators at practices and games will be limited. It is also encouraged to bring your own chair if you have one as we no not have gym bleachers.
5. A $10 registration fee and a copy of the participant's birth certificate MUST be turned in with the registration form before the deadline.
6. Pracitces will take place on June 11, 18, 25 and July 2. Games will take place on July 9, 16, 23 and 30 (4 practice days and 4 game days.)
7. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child's transportation to and from practices and games. Players will not be assigned to a specific team for ride arrangements.
8. This league is provided for the children to have fun, learn athletic and life skills and have social interaction. As a parent/guardian, you will be expected to behave in an appropriate manner at all practices and games. Parents/guardians who behave in an inappropriate manner will cause their child to be dismissed from the league.
9. Please visit our YMCA website for more information on child abuse prevention, including guidance on appropriate boundaries and the steps to take if someone attempts to break the rules or violate those boundaries.
